San Mateo County opened the doors to the Fair Oaks Health Center, its brand new health center in North Fair Oaks, on December 16, 2013. Former patients of the Fair Oaks Adult, Fair Oaks Children, and Willow Clinics were delighted at beauty of this modern, open and welcoming space.

The new three-story facility is 30% larger than all three of the south county clinics combined. It offers comprehensive care for the whole family, including: adult and pediatric primary care; dental; OB/GYN; chronic disease management; optometry; a lab; and pharmacy services. For the first time, patients are able to obtain prescriptions immediately after an appointment. Safeway, the private pharmacy operator, will serve the entire community. A patient health library, mental health services, prevention education and the WIC Program are also on-site.

To serve its diverse patient population, the Fair Oaks Health Center uses the state-of-the-art Health Care Interpreter Network remote video/voice interpreter system to ensure that patients with limited English proficiency are able to communicate effectively with their medical team. Additionally, nearly two-thirds of the staff are bilingual Spanish speakers.

A community-wide grand opening is being planned for later this spring when the demolition of the Fair Oaks Adult Clinic, landscaping, garden and parking lot are completed. In the meantime, the patients and staff alike are getting accustomed to their beautiful new home.
