In May 2015, the North Fair Oaks Community Council and the North Fair Oaks Public Art Workgroup released a call for local artists to transform utility boxes into vibrant works of art on the streets of the unincorporated community of North Fair Oaks.

Three mural designs created by Shayne Oseguera, a local student and artist, were selected for three utility boxes in North Fair Oaks. Shayne is a student at De Anza College who will transfer to San Diego State University in August 2015 to pursue a career as a muralist. On Sunday, June 28th, Shayne began painting the first utility box on the corner of 5th Avenue and Middlefield Road. The second utility box on the corner of Middlefield Road and 8th Avenue in front of Garfield Elementary was completed with the help of young artists from the Siena Youth Center. The third utility box on the corner of 5th Avenue and Semicircular Road was completed the last week of August.
